Method for testing main optical path power through MON port
Problem description:
In OTN equipment engineering test, sometimes we need to test the output optical power of the board on the starting optical path, for example, the power of the OUT port of the single board such as the Unit of Light Unit, FIU, etc. But the ordinary optical power measurement range is not enough to measure the specific value, then how to test the output power?
Solution
1. MON ports are provided on both OAU and FIU veneers to connect spectroscopic analysis veneers and equipment. MON ports and OUT ports light signals are divided into two signals through the splitter inside the veneer. The signals are identical, but the light power is not identical, and there is a light splitting ratio.
2. We can test the optical power of MON when the optical power measurement range is insufficient in the engineering test. Then add the optical power difference between MON port and OUT port to calculate the optical power of OUT port roughly. For example, the splitting ratio of MON port and OUT port of OAU veneer is 1:99, that is, the optical power of MON port is 20 dB lower than OUT port. The formula is: Pout (dBm) - Pmon (dBm) = 10 xlg (99/1) = 20 dB. At this time, if the optical power of the MON port is -3dbm, the optical power of the OUT port is -3+20=17dbm.
